EDGE WORKSHOPS IN ROME

Workshops in Arts and Social Inclusion

Escape Artists has a number of partners working artistically with marginalised groups in Rome and other areas of Italy. As part of our commitment to partnership working, we have co-devised a number of training courses for arts practitioners looking to develop their practice in these areas: working with offenders and ex-offenders; working with people with physical and or mental disabilities; working with homeless people.

If you would like to receive training infused with the insights of over ten years of working in this sector in Italy and the UK, get in touch. The courses take place in Rome and commence in April 2006 (our first workshop 'Dream' with Angela Cocozza, which took place in April, is detailed below).

Dates are still to be arranged but permission to run the workshop has been granted by the prison authorities.

An understanding of Italian is not an absolute requirement - as all sessions are delivered either bilingually or in English.

If you would simply like to register your interest in this workshop please fill in our training enquiry form, attaching a CV if you wish. For further enquiries please call Jeremy Hardingham on 01223 245 945.

A physical theatre workshop with Angela Cocozza

Rome - April 24 to 27

Angela Cocozza, a dancer, actress, choreographer and director with almost 20 years’ experience working with abused and disabled children and young people at risk, holds integrated workshops in collaboration with public and private institutions in Rome.

The core of her Programme for the Enhancement of Learning Potential through Physical Theatre is based on theories of Structural Cognitive Modifiability and Mediated Learning Experience and has an extremely broad range of applications at all levels in both mainstream educational and remedial settings.

During the four-day workshop, two days will be spent focusing on words and the body in relation to a text, while the remaining two days will involve visiting and taking part in integrated workshops for disabled people, children and young people at risk.

The workshop will be conducted both in Italian and English supported by Escape Artists' trainer Paul Malcolm.
