STAY YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL

Watch the video that shows you how

This short movie was produced by Escape Club as a celebration of a year of drama workshops. Under the direction of Christina Fornaciari, participants devised situations in which the themes of the tune could be explored, criticised or inverted.

Numerous story boards, images and scenes were born from these explorations, with the group opting to look at external transformation and the freedoms and dangers of the powerful cosmetics industry - in contrast to the eternal stereotypes of beauty and youth, pursued by generation after generation.

This project was created with the collaboration of volunteers, bringing together members of the general public in Cambridge with emerging theatre and music artists. Enjoy!

ABOUT ESCAPE CLUB

Escape Club is the company's community drama, video and music group. The club has been set up to help integrate marginalised people into mainstream cultural activities, and to assist them with the development of skills that can aid them in seeking employment, housing or further training and education. It is an integral part of our Bridge model of socially inclusive arts practice; forming the link between group work, usually within institutional settings, and an individual's closer involvement with the company, which can lead to one-to-one mentoring and pastoral support.

Anyone can join Escape Club - we welcome applications from all sections of the community - but a number of places are regularly subsidised, for instance by English Churches Housing, and are made exclusively available to homeless and other marginalised people.
