If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase the value of your donation by using a Government scheme called 'Gift Aid'. For every pound you give, Escape Artists will receive an extra 28 pence from the Inland Revenue. With gift aid, a £10 donation will therefore be worth £12.80 to us – and it doesn’t cost you a thing!
On top of this, as a higher rate taxpayer you are eligible to reclaim as much as £23 from the taxman for every £100 donated to us. This is the difference between the basic rate (22%) and the higher rate (40%) of income tax, calculated on the basis of the gross value of your donation. A £100 donation would therefore be worth £128 to us, but cost you only £77. All you need to do is either:
- simply tick the box that says 'Please treat all donations and subscriptions I have made since 6 April 2006, and until further notice, as giftaid', before proceeding to our online payment facility
- print our gift form, tick the Gift Aid box, and return it to us at the address on the form (remember to include the details of your Gift Aid donations on your annual Self Assessment form).
