WORKING WITH THE HOMELESS

Escape Artists has been working with homeless groups in Cambridge since 1999 when we ran music and drama workshops for Wintercomfort, a charity that supports the homeless. Since then we have also worked with hostel residents at 222 Victoria Road, offering opportunities for involvement in music, drama and video workshops. These workshops have been supported by grants from English Churches Housing Groups and the European Social Fund. The results of the last series of workshops, which ended with the making of a short video, can be seen on the Escape Club page.

We have recently developed a pre-employment training programme, based on drama techniques, which we intend rolling out to homeless groups later this year. These programmes have been developed through workshops with the long term unemployed in Cambridge and through accredited programmes in Young Offender Institutions. If you are responsible for running educational programmes for homeless people and would like to know more about the courses that we have on offer, then please call Christine Cellier, our Education Manager, on 020 7655 0909 or email her at christine@escapeartists.co.uk .

You can see our award winning short film Monster, about a homeless man and his problems with authority, on this website in the Past Work section.
