The City Wakes - A Tribute to Syd Barrett

The City Wakes website, part of our tribute to Syd Barrett, whose songs launched one of the most influential bands of all time, Pink Floyd, is now live. Join The City Wakes mailing list and you'll receive priority booking for tickets to The City Wakes performances, exhibition and 'the happening', which are all taking place as part of Cambridge University's Festival of Ideas - Oct 22 to Nov 2 2008.

STOP PRESS: The City Wakes project is formally launched. Read the press release on the new City Wakes website

Explore Syd’s wonderfully unorthodox songs under the expert guidance of The City Wakes’/Escape Artists’ Musical Director, Simon Gunton. Electronic and conventional instruments and participants’ own bodies and voices will be used, allowing each workshop group to create its own interpretation of one of Syd’s classic tracks.

No previous musical experience is necessary and all instruments are provided.

Workshops will run on 24th, 25th and 31st October 2008 at The Centre at St. Paul’s. Twenty places are available in each workshop.
