Escape Artists was founded by a theatre director and two ex-prisoners, with the aim of preventing people from going to prison by involving them in theatre. Ten years on, the company has broadened its horizons, although at heart it is still driven by the same vital concerns: a belief that anyone, no matter what they have done, can change and develop through involvement in the arts. Now Escape Artists provides a range of arts-infused services: Educational Programmes, Productions (including Productions for Education), Training (for clients and for those working with clients), Research and Talks. Our services are often delivered as an integrated, bespoke package, created to meet the needs of specific contractors and clients. We work in prisons, Young Offender Institutions, hospitals and the community. We work with filmmakers, theatre practitioners, dancers and musicians touring shows to professional theatres and the secure estate in the UK and in Europe.
